[ NOT EVERYONE CAN BE ROMANTICALLY COMPETENT. ]

I went out there. [ Saying it as if it's obvious and no big deal to boot. ] Not too long, but I wanted to help out for a little bit..

[ Which is why she doesn't exactly protest of the idea of him going out there - that'd just be hypocritical, right? Not that she wouldn't be worried, but.. he's capable, she's sure, and if anything she can just go with him.. ]

I guess I'm not really that good in the end though. [ She even manages to spin her slight wounds into a joke though, smiling. ] But yeah, it's still okay to just walk around in the city. That part's safe.

[ he looks at her now with a slight frown. It's probably about the right time to release her from the hug, so he does, and allows her more entry into the room, too, going back himself to sit on the bed, which, since there's only one chair and a desk otherwise, is basically telling her to sit wherever. ]

That power isn't the most useful on its own. Certainly not the most likely to keep you uninjured.

I assume healing is at a premium right now, but I have some bandages and so on here. May I?

[ At least she doesn't seem to mind the hug being stopped, instead she just searches for a spot to make herself comfortable too. Any sane person would obviously sit down on the chair, which must be why Asahi instead opt to hoist herself up slightly to sit on the edge of the desk, her legs dangling over the edge. ]

Of course, I don't mind. [ She honestly doesn't - she doesn't mind the wounds themselves either, but if Itsuki wants to she's not going to argue that with him.. Especially since it's him, really. ] But.. I just wanted to help out despite my power not being too useful, you know? I thought I might be able to make some people out there in battle hurt a little less, and I've had some lessons in fighting already.. I guess it's just not enough yet.

[He notes that. Funny. Exactly what Rapunzel did.]

That's all right. There's much more that needs to me done than just helping in battle.

[He stands up and goes over to a chest while he talks, rummaging for a while before returning with a first aid kit and going over to her, laying it down on the desk, and examining the cut on her cheek. It really isn't very much. He pauses to say, mellowly:]

Of course, I in particular would be helped just by your taking care of yourself and not getting hurt.

[He takes out a bit of antiseptic and then some gauze anyway.]

Any other non-obvious injuries?

[ There's an expression that's close enough to a childish pout when he says it - it's a good thing he wasn't starting just yet, hopefully she can at least sit still when he finally does get to taking care of the wound. ]

Why do you think I'm here right now instead of out there? [ Because yes, she is taking care of herself at least a little. Not for herself, since she wouldn't do it for that, but for the people she cares about.. she can't die or anything. For Itsuki too. ]

Hanako helped me out with some wounds before though, so I'm mostly fine. You should've seen her, she was all panicked and saying I had to get over to the hospital quickly..

[ That's since your priorities are way different, Asahi. ]

Ah, of course. It does sound like her. [And that's all he'll say; he reserves judgment on whether that concern was merited or not.

In any case, he quickly swabs the scrape and then tapes on the bandage, smoothing it out with a finger against her cheek, twice. Perhaps the second time wasn't strictly necessary.]

Where else?

[ A blush seems to appear on her face. Where it's because she realises as well it wasn't really necessary, or maybe it's about something else, since she presses her hands onto her lap, the top of her legs, as she answers. ]

I.. I'll do that one myself!

[Oh.

Oh, I'm sorry. Did that hurt too much?

[he just... can't resist...]

[ Apparently in the middle of her embarassment she doesn't even notice he's just feigning innocence to tease her.. so that just makes her more embarassed. It's a downward (or upwards, as far as amusement is concerned) spiral at this rate. ]

N.. no, that's not it, it's just.. embarassing to have you do this part! So I'll do it myself, I can do that just fine!

[He is getting better. Honestly. He will stop right there even though he could go on further, and lay a hand on her arm in an attempt to calm her down a bit.]

Ah, I understand. All right. Don't worry, Asahi.

[...gosh...]

[ She just mumbles something not really audible in return, but does seem to calm down.. maybe she really just is like an animal in that sense, suddenly lashing out but also being calmed down like that easily. She grabs the things he just used-- ]

Just.. turn away for a little bit, okay? You can just keep talking, and then I'll say when I'm done.

[Man. He turns away obediently.]

Of course. Well, what is it that you saw out there? Are things going well?

It's difficult to say with how much is going on out there. [ She just gets to work as she talks, even if she has little pauses inbetween to make sure she isn't doing a shoddy job since she's being distracted.. and apparently she trusts him enough to not peek. ] But.. the enemy definitely is strong. Not that I'm saying we'll lose for sure or anything, but it's going to be pretty difficult. [ Her tone tightens a little at that, part of her does fear they'll lose, and then.. then what? Will they all just die..? ]

Good thing we definitely have some good fighters out there on our side.

[Peeking at a wound would probably not exactly be the stuff of adolescent boys' dreams anyway. Although she does have big--]

... Yes, we do. Though I fear if they are launching a full-scale assault on a city they must be rather confident that despite our previously shown combat abilities, their army is at least numerically stronger, and perhaps even better combatants, too.

Either way, it seems like it may be a crucial moment for us. [Which us? Who knows.]

[ at least he has her instead of sex appeal zero.. ]

More than just crucial. [ She's taking the 'us' more in general, since she's more used to that than thinking of us as in.. well, you know, a couple-- she's still getting used to that part. ] It's a matter of life and death, isn't it?

So it seems. I don't know that this would be our last stand, but -- on the other hand, the risk is there.

[He smiles faintly.] At least, I suppose, we can say it's not a time to miss anything that we want to do - though as long as it is safe inside the city walls, it doesn't quite seem real, does it?

.. Yeah. When we're just sitting here and talking, you wouldn't say they're in battle not even too far away from here.. [ She finally finishes fixing up the wound, at least. ]

There, you can turn back now. It's safe.

[ safe from.. what, Asahi.. (her fists, probably.) ]

[Yeah, "safe" actually is probably a good word for that...

He does turn back, in any case.]

Indeed. It's important to decide then exactly what we're planning to do these next few days.

Do you want to stick together..?

[ It's mostly a question out of curiosity, but there's also part of a request in it. If there's anyone she would worry about the most in this place, it's him, after all. ]

[He hesitates for a moment, then nods.]

It may not be the safest, but still, it might be best.

I don't think anything is fully safe right now. [ And she doesn't really care. At least, not as far as she's concerned - maybe when other people are concerned, but she's not worried for herself. ]

So.. at least when we're together, we can make sure we're both okay.

[He glances over. He's still not sure about that. He feels like they might spur each other into more danger than otherwise. But there's no better choice here.]
